Groet is a quiet country village next to the extended dunes of the ‘Schoorlse duinen”. The village itself has a supermarket. Also, bikes can be hired and there are several excellent restaurants and a pub. Groet is uniquely situated on the border of the dune- and polderland. From your holiday cottage you can walk or cycle directly into the beautiful dune-area with a variety of sandy dunes, heather- and woodland. The long and wide beach of Camperduin is  a 10-minute-ride by bicycle, 5 minutes by car to a big parking lot at Hargen aan Zee or a 20-minute- walk through the dunes. The polders of Hargen and Petten make a lovely cycling-tour with its narrow polderroads, old-fashioned windmills and the interesting bird-colony of the bird-sanctuary of ‘De Putten’.

 Cycling, walking or by car you will be in Schoorl in no time to have a coffee or lunch on one of the busy terraces near the huge sandy climbers’ dune , a great attraction for children. Also the visitors’ centre there is worth a visit which offers various activities and (educational) excursions for young and old. For children a play-wood has been created with  an aqua  playground and a bare-footpath.

The artist’s village of Bergen takes 25 minutes by bike through the dunes. Bergen is known for its numerous terraces around the “Ruinekerk” its many galleries, little shops or for watching a good film in Cinebergen. For the art and culture lover there is the interesting museum Kranenburgh and Museum “Het Sterkenhuis”. And not to  forget the architecture in “Park Meerwijk” with its outstanding villas in the Amsterdam School style.

The historical town of Alkmaar with its picturesque canals and funny old streets is round the corner. From April to September there is the famous Cheesemarket.

By car or public transport you can reach Amsterdam within an hour.

Amusement park ‘The Goldfish’ in nearby Sint Maartenszee has a big indoor playground and an outdoor playgarden and will be fun in all weathers. The ‘Holle Bolle Boom' in  Tuitjenhorn with its swimming pool and playgardens will be a successful day-out for the children.

An outing to a Zoo? You will like “Van Blanckendaell Park” in Tuitjenhorn or “Estate Hoenderdaell“ with its lions and birds-of-prey in Anna Paulowna.
